10 Resume Mistakes That Get You Rejected (and How to Fix Them)
07 Oct 2026
- Multiple pages for a fresher. Keep it to one page.
- Fancy layouts with tables and icons. Many ATS tools misread them. Prefer simple, single-column designs.
- Vague bullets. “Responsible for sales” says little; “Closed 45 enterprise deals worth ₹2.4 crore” proves value.
- No keywords from the job post. Mirror the exact skills and tools mentioned.
- Typos and inconsistent formatting. Use the same date style and bullet style everywhere.
- Unprofessional email address. Use a name-based email.
- Missing contact details or broken links. Test your LinkedIn and portfolio URLs.
- Too many skills. List 6–10 relevant ones, not 30.
- Unexplained gaps. Add a line about courses, freelancing or caregiving.
- Sending an editable file. Send a PDF so formatting never changes.
