Fresher Resume Format for India: What to Include (with a Simple Structure)
07 Oct 2026
Recruiters spend only a few seconds on each resume. As a fresher, your goal is to make your potential obvious in that time. Use one page and a clean, single-column layout.
Recommended section order
- Name and contact: full name, phone, professional email, city and LinkedIn or portfolio link.
- Career objective: two lines naming the role you want and your strongest skills.
- Education: degree, college, year and CGPA or percentage. Put it first because it is your strongest section.
- Skills: only the skills you can discuss in an interview.
- Projects and internships: what you built, tools used and the result.
- Certifications and achievements: relevant courses, competitions, leadership roles.
How to write without work experience
- Turn academic and personal projects into experience: “Built a billing app in PHP and MySQL used by 40 students.”
- Add numbers wherever you can — users, marks, team size, time saved.
- Mention internships, college events, NSS/NCC and club roles to show responsibility.
Mistakes to avoid
- Long paragraphs instead of short bullet points.
- Unprofessional emails like cutiepie123@.
- Photos, date of birth, religion or father’s name — not needed for most private-sector jobs.
- Spelling mistakes. Read your resume aloud before downloading.
